Does your Mind Listen to You?
When it goes wild with involuntary thought, do you have the ability to tell it to stop?
Does it obey you?
Can you quite the mind on demand?
The answer is probably No; Or, on some rare occasions — to find a man who has learned to keep the mind at bay is very rare.
Almost all human beings live within their minds, the mind is their master. Their lives are not their own but the minds’.
They live to fulfil the minds commands. When the mind desires he rans around to fulfil the desire. When he resists to fulfil the desire the mind creates suffering for him. When he tries to get the mind to stop, it does not obey him. It in fact retaliates with a vengeance, and it takes over the human being even more.
As long as a human live as his mind. Peace, equanimity, fulfilment and such gems of nature will always be distant dreams for him. The mind is not the source of them. It is a desiring machine, always moving towards pleasure and avoiding pain.
The human whose mind is his master is a limited human. He is fundamentally a schizophrenic, he is subject to fickle nature of the mind. The human whose mind is his servant is one whom existence bows to. Is a human who has access to natures gems. The mind of this human is his genie in a bottle. Limitations do not exist for him.
This is the man I aspire to be. Just like almost everybody, my life has belonged to the mind. I have been subject to the fake happiness that is from the mind. Why is it fake? Because it lasts not. My mind finds something exciting then I get excited, few moments later it finds something unpleasant then I acquiesce to that feeling too. I have also been subject to the myriad of suffering that the mind causes; fear, anxiety, stress, doubt, inner turmoil, conflict, addiction, belief in falsities, conditioning, etc.. All these are from the mind.
I have found Kapil Gupta’s work ( Kapil Gupta ) on the nature of the mind to be very instrumental in getting to the crux of the nature of mind. This has resulted me in making leaps in my journey towards inner freedom, peace, liberation. I discovered his work about a year ago and I never been more thankful. I am glad that our paths crossed. He is devoted to truth.
Blessed is the man who despite never having met or interacted with his fellow human in person, causes deep transformation.
