True Writing

One perspective about writing I hold which is one part borrowed from Kapil Gupta’ work and another seen to be true in my experience is that the writing should be about the individual. About you. About the constant examination of what actually are my true problems. The writing in that case would go into dissecting it to the problem, to realize what actually is the problem. The others side would perhaps be the delving in to the truth about other subject matters of interest. The writing would entail bringing all the pieces to the surface to see the depth of ones own understanding and to see the holes, the gaps in understanding.

This has worked for me, especially writing about my problems. Problem definition. It has resulted in the resolution of many of those problems once and for all. I had lived in chronic anxiety that would attack me almost whenever it wished to but after constant examination it came to a stop. The only anxieties I have now are situational, where there is actually something that is a natural cause for it. This was a big relief to be free from.

I have realized that once you get over a certain problem within yourself you get a sense of relief for a while and then another set of new problems surface. Then those become your new problems to work on. I am convinced that all human beings have problems, have issues. The only variation is in how deep they extend. There are problems that are more acute for one person than another, and those constitute his living reality.

My biggest challenge now is the pull towards entertainment. This has been a challenge for a while. If I could arrive at a place where I was not attracted to entertainment i.e. music, movies, series, sports, YouTube, my time could be freed to explore other things which are useful. The human mechanism is very interesting, it almost forcefully demands what it has been conditioned to. It leaves the human no option but to move in that direction unless the conditioning is undone or overwritten. This is what I try to do in one way or another to reclaim my life back.

Prayer changes things. Don’t be ashamed to pray. Don’t be too proud to pray.
