Writers Dilemma
A writer's dilemma comes when he starts to write for the audience and not for their heart , therefore he bleeps out what he deems not pleasant to person X or Y — out of need to preserve a positive self image to them. Just like personalities portrayed on social media. So because of such he or she wouldn’t talk about ;
How you get anxious about the uncertainty of the future. Then sit and rationalize to self how that’s how it should be otherwise it wouldn’t be an adventure.
How you regret sleeping with that girl you barely knew without a condom , and now you are shook every time you pass by a VCT.
How you at times feel empty because you feel like you are not doing what you are suppose to do with your life — and hate that you don’t have the balls to quit whatever you are doing to figure this out.
The times you were attracted to a person you are related to.
How you are powerless to quit your job out of fear of criticism , losing some status as working man and frankly , that you need your job more than it needs you. That if you dropped dead you would be replaced within a few days.
How you wish money wouldn’t be of such importance in the world so that you wouldn’t have to work for it. No matter how you rationalize , analyze and look you still need money.
Having to accept that if you are not of utility the market place will not give a damn about you.
How you read and listen to tones of material but still feel like you don’t know sh’t. How you have to be okay with not knowing…
How you late teens and early 20s’ was crippled with struggles with anxiety , addiction to gambling , to porn , to escapism of all sorts and you couldn’t help yourself because you lacked the understanding of how to overcome.
The lack of balls to approach that parent figure who traumatized you when you were a kid by corporally punishing you for a mistake you didn’t do. How you probably have not forgiven your late paps 100% because of how big of an ass he was to you and people you loved.
How you still stomach crap from people out of lifelong habit of people pleasing. Not wanting to disappoint anyone.
Having to accept losing the affection of certain people because of their disapproval of your ways of worship.
etc
Choosing to give in to perceived external pressure and limit the level of expression in your art is a challenge that once is overcome ; the sky is your point of view. A balance has to be struck for an artist to maintain an audience and still be able to express themselves fully. This might involve reselection of art form.
I admire family guy’s Seth McFarlane because he is able to express himself fully through family guy without rubbing many shoulders. Or comedians like Patrice O’Neal…
